The SiLEAN consortium gathered in Ankara, Turkey, for its 5th General Assembly on 1st of July 2026. The single-day event provided a focused opportunity for partners to evaluate progress and align on upcoming deliverables as the project works toward establishing a sustainable, lean process chain for next-generation silicon heterojunction solar cells.
Engaging technical discussions were held between partners, reviewing recent developments across work packages. The focus lay on the optimization of epitaxially-grown ultra-thin silicon wafers, alternative passivation concepts, and the elimination of critical raw materials from the cell architecture.
The assembly directly followed a dedicated SiLEAN workshop hosted at the International Conference on Photovoltaic Science and Technologies (PVCon 2026), organised by consortium partner ODTÜ-GÜNAM. The workshop proved highly successful, serving as an excellent platform for selected partners to present recent project results and engage in productive, insightful discussions with leading researchers and industry professionals from the broader photovoltaic community.
Building on that external momentum, consortium members concluded the general assembly with a comprehensive tour of the ODTÜ-GÜNAM experimental research facilities. This allowed partners to view the local infrastructure firsthand and discuss ongoing testing protocols in an informal setting. The assembly wrapped up with a clear roadmap for the next phase of the project’s three-year timeline.
